Sunset on Sunset

On my way out of the gym I was stopped in my tracks by the most majestic of all sunsets I've seen on Sunset Blvd. The clouds were lined by a pink halo that gradually blended into the blue sky. These photos just don't do it justice!

I'm so grateful that, despite the concrete jungle and fake everything that surrounds us in L.A., we can still enjoy the minuscule but gorgeous moments of natural beauty around us.

My first deal!

Today marks a huge milestone in my broker training career! I got my first deal done with a tenant I found, pursued, provided top notch service to, and today..had him sign on the dotted line!

In this shit of an economy in month 6 of my training, that is quite an accomplishment, if I say so myself! I'm patting myself on the back and typing one handed as we speak! Haha

Seriously though, I'm psyched! All that's left to make it official is a signed lease then the commission will soon be in my pocket. For a 2,500 sf tenant, the fee is lovely. I couldn't help but smile when I scribbled the amount down.

I can get used to this! :)

Mud Run action shots

Here we are in all our muddy glory – I didn’t get a chance to look for Steve’s pics yet but perhaps he has a few tricep shots in there somewhere (Anne, please forward and I’ll post!) I’m disappointed they didn’t capture us hauling our asses up over the walls, but hey, at least there’s more pics! Tube tops rule! Ha ha and our tans in the bridesmaids dresses were impeccable.

Pimp my t-shirt

Scorching weather calls for skimpier clothes to keep one cool, yet stylish all at the same time, of course. I got my commemorative mud run tee and a few snips and tying gave me a chic new summer halter. Hmm..maybe I can capitalize on my fashion sensibilities and sell my handy crafts at next years mud run..

Presenting "Mrs. PP"!!

After the girls were all done up, excitement and activity grew as the bouquets and photographer showed up. The wedding entourage was admired by onlookers, many of which said this was the best looking bridal party they've ever seen. The photographer took pics galore, which should make for some fabulous mementos of the big day.

The wedding was amazing and so much fun! Although sweltering hot, the ceremony couldn't have been more touching with tears shed from the groom as soon as his new bride came into his sight. I almost slipped on the rose petal laden aisle, and Niyia kept getting attacked by a bug. Nonetheless, we all remained fabulous all throughout the night. Although people kept stepping on the trains of our dresses and pollen from our bouquets stained marked us, we were imperfectly perfect!

We dined, we danced, we laughed, and we couldn't be happier for the newly weds. Everything was beautiful in the reception and we even made out with the pretty centerpieces as a parting gift.

Today, my toes are numb and the balls of my feet ache - painful, yes, but a reminder of all the fun we had dancing the night away.

Congratulations to one of my best girlfriends as the new Mrs. PP! Proof positive that even if life threw you curve balls in the past, you can still hit a home run in the future. Relish in the game of love, it's the best sport there is.

Sitting pretty

The girls gathered early to get hair and make up done by make up artist team "make up mafia". Beautiful updos, make up looks, and steaming of dresses are happening to my left and right in preparation of pre-festivity photos. Let's hope it all sticks throughout the night!

Chin chins

After the rehearsal the wedding party, family, and significant others enjoyed a post-rehearsal thank you dinner at Chin Chin's. The outside patio on the roof created the perfect setting for enjoying the feast. The weather finally cooled down to a bearable 70 degrees by 10 pm. The bridesmaids got their adorably packaged gifts, the groomsmen their movado clocks, and the kids got walkie talkies and other fun goodies. Tomorrow's the big day when our "Ms" turns into "Mrs"!

Wedding rehearsal

July 20th marks the first official day of summer, and we've got the weather to prove it.

Trish and Ray's wedding party and family gathered to do a run through of the ceremony in the global warming evident heat-tomorrow we're expected to hit triple digit temps. Let's hope we don't bust an evil witch of the west and melt into a puddle of seafoam green mush. Excitement and happiness for the soon to be bride and groom filled the air.

Casualty of war

I just finished giving my tootsies a good foot scrub since the mud run and damn my feet really needed it! I took my nail polish off and to my dismay, I uncovered a dead toe nail-an undiscovered casualty of mud run. RIP index toe nail, you will be missed.

Now, I must get back to my pedicure-a few fresh coats of Opi "kangarooby" red should do the trick. My little piggies will look brand new in no time!

Yelp me baby, one more time.

With Yelp, everyone's a critic! Ain't life grand?

Kiss my gas!

What does $45 get me? Under 10 gallons of gas. I remember the good ol' days, when the highest gas got stayed within the high $1.00 to $2.00 range.

Now we just need more better looking and affordable hybrid options so we can tell the oil companies to kiss our gas good bye!

The "d" word

Hahaha! I walked over to my neighborhood starbucks to wash away my lethargy and took my best accessory on a stroll with me to enjoy a dose of sunshine. On a walk that must have been all but 10 minutes, 2 complete strangers felt compelled to point out the obvious- my furry little buddy is not really all that little. He's about 10 pounds "not little".

Now, these strangers weren't trying to be mean, just helpful. Momma would have kicked some ass had their tone been anything but. 'Cause no one talks shit about my little man! :)

The first careful observer, if he could be honest, should practice what he preached if ya know what I mean. The second, was a sweet old man, with a thick accent, and it was a strange coincidence how he said the exact words as the first: "He needs to be on a diet."

Tenzo, totally oblivious to their comments, just pranced proud as can be, right on by. Me? I just smiled, as I simply replied "I know" and walked on by.

Look at him-with a smile like that, the fact that he could afford to lose a few pounds is overshadowed by that bright, sweet, irresistible face.

Shower me with lingerie

This morning we had Trish's bridal shower, hosted by Anne at her place. We had scrumptious finger foods and mimosas and played games. There were many talks of Ray's nostrils, Trish's love of Johnny Depp, her preoccupation with Adam Levine, and her uncomfortable revelations of what goes down in the bedroom *wink wink.

Niyia, Andrea, and I came out victorious and won bath/beauty prizes. Trish opened her gifts of lingerie and related stuff, giving her multiple choices of what to wear for her night of consumating her marriage! We quickly rounded out the day taking photos and watching the bachelorette slideshow I cooked up, then we all rushed out the door to do our respective Dad's day celebrations.

Mud run

Hoorah, baby! Dirty fun once again, and I beat last years time-1:09 and some change. Las year I think I did like 1:12 and some change. Mud walls, a lake, water hose sprays, and all kinds of good stuff. Due to the wedding next week, Anne and I wore tube tops-haha! But they held up the chest puppies just fine. We finished the run with a cold communal shower-brrr!

Hopefully we'll get in more event pics this time! My baby was kinda under the weather so he got a free pass this time and stayed home.

Broker training-Month 6

The last two days have been monumentous milestones in my new role as a broker. Tuesday, I got my first proposal in from a pizza concept I have been tracking since the start of the year, and yesterday I got the green light to draft up an offer for a sushi restaurant I've been chasing for a few months. These are tenants that I discovered and followed up with all on my own, and it's really exciting to see the "seeds" I've been planting since the start of the year finally start to grow into real business!

This is just the beginning..and I couldn't be more ecstatic about my growth and progression despite the current economic situation.

Go baby, it's your birthday!

Today is my honey's birthday! At 2 a.m. I gave him a sorbet 'cake' with a candle in it, accompanied by my rendition of the happy birthday song and a card. This afternoon, his bros took him for lunch at Fuddruckers and I decorated a bit so that he can come home surprised. He should be psyched about the birthday gifts that await him too. It's a beautiful day today-a nice gift from mama nature which ain't shabby at all! Tonight, we dine and drink and party at a place tbd. More to come..
