So check it..Friday afternoon I notice a persistent twitch in my right eyelid. Usually if I experience any sort of involuntary muscle twitch it subsides after its done its thing and that's the end of it.
It is now Monday, and that damn twitch is still here. I tried to "Kill Bill" it away, but instead of saying "wiggle your big toe" I was saying "stop twitching your right eyelid". No success.
I look in the mirror to see exactly what I look like as it twitches and it feels a lot bigger than it looks. Thank God I don't look like a psycho or crack fiend- it's more of a subtle incognito twitch.
Still, its annoying as hell. If I want you to move I'll voluntarily move you, eyelid! I'm the boss of you dammit!
Concerned, I googled "eye twitch" and found the medical terminology for my condition. "Blepharospasm"--as a past Surgical Tech I coulda figured that one out myself. There's a medical term for everything. Such as "RLS" aka restless leg syndrome. Well, at least the latter is voluntary. Ho hum, it sounds worse in doctor speak.
Anyway. Supposedly there is no cure; chances are its temporary and caused by lack of sleep or too much stress. Check and check. They say you can decrease the frequency by reversing these two conditions. Easier said than done. If it doesn't go away you can elect surgery to disengage the muscle that is linked to twitching, or you can get botox injections. Hmm..twitching eye or droopy, lifeless eyelid? Decisions, decisions. :)
Well hopefully my eyelid muscle will stop rebelling soon. Wish me luck!
