What an awesome 4th I had with my family! My boo worked, so it was my immediate fam along with my Grandma, cousin Dez and Bruce and baby Chris, along with the bros who joined us for BBQ and libations in the afternoon.
It was a hot one, so we had the table umbrellas and the misters going in full effect. There was food o' plenty- BBQ chicken, ribs, baked fish, lumpia, strawberry shortcake, etc. After eating we played a lil" rock band and some of us took food naps before heading down to the Rose Bowl.
We ended up parking like a mile or so away due to the mass of people heading in. Once we got seated in the stadium (mostly all of our first times there) we watched some drum/band/dance performances before the big show.
When the clock struck 9, the stadium lights went out and the stadium was pitch black aside from the glow necklaces and toys sprinkled in the audience. The announcer had us count down from 10 and the fireworks commenced.
This was by far the best fireworks show I've ever seen- the fireworks are setup on the other end of the stadium (they only fill it w/ people on one half).
The show is very up in your face- the fireworks are shot up just above the stadium so you get an amazing view. They look so big close up and literally filled up the sky above us-you could even hear the ricochet of them taking off.
Each firework set had a quick interlude with independence history on the big screen and the show is accompanied by music. They had awesome fireworks of all colors and designs. Some exploded into planets, happy faces, squigglies, and even squares.
A half hour later after the finale the crowd roared in cheer. And even though it was a zoo to exit the stadium, everyone left w/ a smile on their face.
